PHILLY BYE-BYE

Plus, Franken's Co-Host Exits Air America Radio

Abysmally low ratings have led to liberal talk radio network Air America's removal from the Philly airwaves, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper:

Al Franken and Randi Rhodes are getting the boot from Philadelphia airwaves, as WHAT-AM (1340) is pulling off programming from Air America, the liberal talk-radio network.

Friday will be the last day, and a new WHAT lineup will begin Monday, said general manager Kernie Anderson, adding that "things were not working out" with Air America after about a year.

WHAT aired Air America's programming from noon to 7 p.m. weekdays, sandwiched between the rest of its lineup. The juxtaposition of liberal talk and WHAT's African America-targeted talk programming seemed an odd fit from the start.

Ratings were abysmal.

Something tells me we won't be reading about this at the Daily Kos. By the way, Philadelphia is a huge market, ranked sixth overall by population.

"Abysmal" in a liberal newspaper and city. Thought this was a right-vs.-left debate? Guess again- it's about performance. Portland alone isn't going to carry this network.

Meanwhile, Michelle Malkin was among the first today to note the sudden departure of Al Franken's co-host from the network. RedStateRant was also right on it.

More details coming later.

  • oops almost forgot

    Hi Brian:
I see you're too embarassed to respond to the fact that I am publicly mocking your pathetic credentials, as such, I am reprinting my post from the previous thread in the unlikely event anyone reads this post.

Incidentally, I regret someone beat me to the punch in commenting on your complaint that the author of the Time piece you boast about so proudly in your bio was actually a left wing hatchett man.

Sweet lord, you are both the most desperate and entertaining thing i've seen in a long time.

    -----------------------------------
I understand why you are so proud of this Time article that you're mentioned in.

    It's entitled:

Austin Nevada: Conspiracy USA, in the middle of nowhere where the highway is empty it all fits together.

"The drive-time talk jock (out here it's always drive time) is the inflammatory Brian Maloney, who makes Rush Limbaugh sound like Alan Alda. Maloney tends to open his monologues with the question that prefaces most conspiracy rants: "Don't you find it interesting that...?" For Maloney, who preaches that President Clinton is an "agent of influence" for the Chinese, there seems to be no such thing as a meaningless coincidence or a truthful politician. When a caller nominates Charlton Heston for Speaker of the House, it is not a joke."

It really does all fit together doesn't it. You loon. /laughter

  • Yoo-hoo, Sailor,

The IP address is 127.0.0.1; it's a loopback to your thick skull.

  • Tell you what. Go to http://airamericaplace.com sometime tomorrow, download the mp3 from Thursday's Majority Report show, go to about 15 minutes before the end of the program, and you will hear Sam the man ridicule Sailor Republica on the air.

And Sailor doesn't know much about networking. Anybody that goes running off to IANA to look up a dedicated loopback address of his own PC doesn't pass the test to get out of rube school.

Interesting how certain people can never admit to being wrong.

  • Franken's partner up and left? I can't blame her. I've found Franken's show to be unlistenable.

I could stand a little bit of Randi Rhodes, but then she's an actual radio pro. Tedious, but more listenable than anyone else on that network.

  • Hey, SEDER?
You got a schmeer for my bagel?
    How 'bout some lox?
OK, I'll settle for an IQ.

  • TC Lynch:

Good work exposing Seder as a Jew. Do you keep a list of them?

  • " If Air America can't keep it going in Philadelphia, a blue collar city that votes 110% for Democrats (literally), the product is highly questionable.

There is obviously a market for lefty radio, but screeching harpy Rhodes, unfunny/uninformed Franken and the unlistenable Ed Schultz aren't it.

Being lefties, AAR mangement will cling to their bad hires and whine instead of doing something to solve the problem. "

How long has Brian been doing this and he still does not realize that Ed Schultz does not work for Air America?

  • The rules according to Sailor Republica exist only in his mind.

Hence, we cannot keep a touchdown from scoring.
